Wolverines finish 4th at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's cross country team captured fourth place overall at the 36-team Gettysburg College Invitational Saturday afternoon as the Wolverines concluded the meet with 164 team points. Division II Shippensburg won the meet with 92 points, followed by Gettysburg (118) and Division I Bucknell (127).

Senior Ella Smith (Becker, Minn./Becker) led Grove City's effort Saturday by taking sixth place overall as she completed the six-kilometer course in a time of 22 minutes, 47 seconds.

Senior Sara Fisher (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) placed 29th overall in 23:37, one spot ahead of senior Mary Kate Breese (Mercer, Pa./Mercer). Breese took 30th in 23:38.

Junior Laurel Skorup (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) finished 47th (24:06) while senior Anna Dunsworth (Erie, Pa./Strong Vincent) took 66th in a time of 24:26. Senior Mary Seward (Elizabethton, Tenn./Science Hill) earned 95th (25:06) and senior Grace Hanson (Fairland, Ind./Homeschooled) took 96th with a 25:07 clocking.

Mary Baldwin junior Sophia Stone won the individual race with a time of 21:48.

The Wolverines will compete in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships October 27 at Bethany College.
