Grove City earns 2nd; Rabenold medalist

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Grove City College women's cross country team opened the 2014 season Friday evening by taking second at the four-team Buffalo State Invitational. The Wolverines earned 63 team points to earn runner-up. Geneseo State won the team title with 22 points.

Junior Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) led the Grove City effort by winning the individual race in a time of 19 minutes, 22 seconds. Three teammates joined Rabenold in the top 20.

Senior Kara Cremean (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) placed 18th in 20:59, one spot ahead of junior Stevie Huston (Greensburg, Pa./Latrobe), who also recorded a time of 20:59. Freshman Mackenzie Klinvex (Wexford, Pa./Shady Side Academy) took 20th with a time of 21:01.

Also for Grove City, freshman Martha Mihm (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) earned 21st (21:01) while junior Emily Townsend (Tucker, Ga./Killian Hill Christian) finished 25th with a time of 21:20. Sophomore Kellen McGann (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) placed 26th with a time of 21:21.

Grove City returns to action September 13 at the Bethany College Invitational.
