Grove City captures runner-up

GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's cross country team earned second place Saturday afternoon at the 26-team Gettysburg Invitational. Grove City finished with 91 team points. Maryland won the event with a team score of 35.

Two Grove City runners finished in the top five to help lead the Wolverine effort. Senior Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) took second overall in a time of 22 minutes, 24.3 seconds for six kilometers. Meanwhile, sophomore Martha Mihm (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) captured fifth place in a time of 22:35.4.

Junior Lydia Keiper (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) took 17th in 23:34.7 while junior Kellen McGann (Suffield, Conn./Suffield) placed 31st in 23:57.9. Senior Stevie Huston (Greensburg, Pa./Latrobe) rounded out the Wolverines' top five by finishing 42nd in 24:11.5.

Sophomore Mackenzie Klinvex (Wexford, Pa./Shady Side Academy) took 57th (24:33.4) while freshman Rachel Martin (Pittsburgh, Pa./Eden Christian) claimed 62nd in 24:37.1.

Maryland's Alexandra Lucki won the individual race in 21:50.6.

Grove City returns to action October 31 by competing in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships in Latrobe, Pa.
