Grove City wins 27th-straight PAC title; Rabenold MVP for third time

LATROBE, Pa. -- Senior Emily Rabenold (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) earned her third-consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Championships individual title and four other Wolverines finished in the top seven as the Grove City College women's cross country team scored just 20 points to win the conference meet for the 27th year in a row on Saturday afternoon at Saint Vincent College.

Rabenold was named the league's Runner of the Year and a member of the All-PAC First Team for the third-straight year after running a victorious time of 23 minutes, five seconds while head coach Sean Severson earned Coach of the Year honors for the ninth year in a row and the 10th time in 11 years.

Sophomore Martha Mihm (Stone Ridge, N.Y./Rondout Valley) finished third individually in 23:28 while seniors Stevie Huston (Greensburg, Pa./Latrobe) and Anna Cessar (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) were fourth and fifth with times of 24:12 and 24:19, respectively. Junior Lydia Keiper (East Greenville, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) rounded out the Grove City scoring five with a seventh-place time of 24:28. Huston joined Rabenold ond the All-PAC First Team honors for the third year in a row while Mihm earned her second-straight First Team honor and Cessar and Keiper each earned their first.

Junior Kellen McGann earned a spot on the All-PAC Second Team by finishing 12th with a time of 25:07 while freshman Rachel Martin earned All-PAC Honorable Mention for her 16th-place time of 25:23.

Grove City's 20 points were the lowest total scored at the PAC Championships since 2009, when the Wolverines placed five runners in the top six and seven in the top nine to score 17 points.

Rabenold is just the third runner in conference history to win the conference meet at least three times and the third Wolverine to do so. Elisa Pedersen won four-straight league crowns from 2002 to 2005 and Kristen Carter followed Pedersen with titles in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Grove City returns to action Friday night at the College of Wooster Twilight 5K at 7 p.m.
