Six Wolverines win individual titles at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Six members of the Grove City College men's track and field team earned victories at the Westminster Titan Track and Field Invitational Saturday at Harold Burry Stadium.

Senior Josh Christy (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) won both the 110 high hurdles (17.06 seconds) and the 400 hurdles (58.89) and also finished fourth in the 400-meter dash (54.26). Senior Ryan Mitchell (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) won the 3000 steeplechase in 10:15.60, one spot ahead of senior teammate Dustin Dimit (Alliance, Ohio/Alliance). Mitchell also took third in the 5000.

Junior Steve Brown (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim) won the 10,000-meter run in a time of 33:52.82 while junior Rory Phillips (Kane, Pa./Kane) threw the javelin 160 feet, 5 inches to take first. Senior jumper Nick Ondrasik (Brookville, Pa./Brookville) leaped 40 feet 11 inches to win the triple jump while sophomore Dan Bridger (Erie, Pa./McDowell) won the pole vault by clearing 12 feet.

Bridger led a Wolverine sweep in the pole vault as freshman Matthew George (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) took second and freshman John Smith (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) finished third. Ondrasik, meanwhile, also took fourth in the long jump at 18-1.

Freshman Randy Fulton (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) finished second in the long jump at 18-9 and placed fifth in the 100 dash in 12.00 seconds. Junior Drew Martin (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) took second in the triple jump (40-2) and third in the long jump (18-4) and 110 hurdles (18.45 seconds). Senior Jeb Schreiber, the defending Presidents' Athletic Conference MVP, took second in the 110 hurdles (17.12) and high jump (6-0), third in the 400 hurdles (61.39) and fifth in the 400 dash (54.62).

Freshman Dan Chittick (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) took third in the 1500 with a time of 4:25.37, two spots ahead of sophomore Chris Lee (Pompton Plains, N.J./Trinity Christian), who turned in a time of 4:29.73.

In addition, sophomore David Bolls (West Palm Beach, Fla./Cardinal Newman) took fourth in the high hurdles while junior Dan Corsi (Aliquippa, Pa./Center) finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 41 feet, 3 1/2 inches. Junior Mike Richards (Brookville, Pa./Brookville) took fifth in the 800 (2:08.91). 

The meet was not scored.
