Wolverines compete at Carnegie Mellon

PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College men's track and field team finished second to host Carnegie Mellon at the Carnegie Mellon University Track and Field Meet Wednesday afternoon at Gesling Stadium. CMU trimmed Grove City, 149-138, in the team standings. Waynesburg took third in the three-team event with 37 points. 

Junior Drew Martin (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) paced Grove City in the field by winning the long jump (20-8 1/2), taking second in the triple jump (39-9 1/4), third in the javelin (149-11) and fourth in the high jump (5-8). 

Senior Nick Ondrasik (Brookville, Pa./Brookville) won the triple jump with a leap of 42 feet, 3/4 inch and placed second in the long jump at 18-10 1/2. Junior Rory Phillips (Kane, Pa./Kane) won the javelin with a throw of 188 feet, 4 inches while freshman Matthew George (Tyrone, Pa./Bellwood-Antis) led a Grove City 1-2 sweep in the pole vault by clearing 12-6. Teammate Dan Bridger (Erie, Pa./McDowell) also cleared 12-6 and took second.

Senior Jeb Schreiber (Enon, Ohio/Oil City, Pa.) finished second in both the high (16.98 seconds) and 400 hurdles (57.9) Sophomore Craig Lucas (Wingate, Pa./Bald Eagle) put the shot 41 feet, 6 inches, to earn runner-up honors.

Sophomore Luke Henry (Knox, Pa./Keystone) took third in the 800 while senior Josh Christy (Mercer, Pa./Mercer) finished third in the 400 hurdles and fourth in the 400 dash. Frosh Dan Chittick (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham) took fourth place in the 1500. 

Grove City returns to action Saturday at the Mount Union Invitational.
