Grove City fares well at SRU Open

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's track and field team produced 10 top-8 finishes Saturday at the Slippery Rock University Open on the Bill Lennox Track inside N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

Two Grove City field men posted runner-up finishes Saturday. Junior Matt Kulinski (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) cleared 14 feet, 6 inches to take second in the pole vault while junior Dave Hodge (Enon Valley, Pa./Mohawk) leaped 44-3/4 to place second in the triple jump.

Freshman thrower Tony Clark (Stow, Ohio/Stow) placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 143-1 while senior Bob Perri (Washington, Pa./Trinity) took sixth in the shot put (48-6). Senior Craig Hallman (Ellwood City, Pa./Riverside) tied for seventh in the high jump by clearing 5-9.

On the track, junior Chris Andrew (Bow, N.H./Bow) took fifth in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 10 minutes, 0.93 seconds. Sophomore Darin Miller (Line Lexington, Pa./Christopher Dock) placed sixth in the 800 (1:59.25) while sophomore Daniel Spaulding (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) finished sixth in the 10,000-meter run (33:15.81).

Junior Greg Kroleski (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch) took eighth in the 5000 (16:29.52) while senior Andrew Leuenberger (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) crossed in eighth place in the 10000 (33:49.79).

Grove City will compete in the Westminster Invitational next Saturday, April 21 at Memorial Field.
