Grove City competes at The Rock
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's track and field team continued its preparations for the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships by competing in the Slippery Rock University Invitational at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium Saturday.
Junior Dan Spaulding (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) led the Wolverine effort Saturday by winning the 10,000-meter run in 32 minutes, 54.42 seconds.
Sophomore Derek Kruse (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) earned runner-up honors in the 1500 (4:12.65). Sophomore Sean Domer (Indiana, Pa./United) led Grove City in the field events by taking second in the javelin with a throw of 58.29 meters.
Senior Bob Perri (Washington, Pa./Trinity) placed third in the shot put with a mark of 15.12m. He also took fifth in the discus with a toss of 41.68m. Junior Tim Su (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) placed third in the 10,000 with a time of 33:39.78.
Senior Matt Kulinski (Oil City, Pa./Oil City) cleared 4.27m to take fifth in the pole vault while senior Dave Hodge (Enon Valley, Pa./Mohawk) took fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.05m. Sophomore Tony Clark (Stow, Ohio/Stow) earned sixth in the discus (41.34m) while junior Chris Huber (Ontario, Ohio/Ontario) took seventh in the shot put with a mark of 13.58 meters.
Freshman John Fite (Sunnyvale, Calif./Ad Fontes) finished eighth in the 400 (52.70) while junior Darin Miller (Line Lexington, Pa./Christophoer Dock) crossed eighth in the 800 (2:00.12). Junior Joe McCoy (Newark, Ohio/Newark) took eighth place in the steeplechase with a time of 11:20.10.
Grove City will compete in the Westminster Invitational Saturday, April 19. The PAC Championships will be held the following Saturday at Washington & Jefferson's Cameron Stadium.
