March 20, 1999--
Three Wolverines banged out three hits each as the Grove City College baseball team (1-1) edged Case Western Reserve University (5-8), 14-13, in the season opener in Cleveland, OH.

J.G. Louden (Morgantown, WV/University) went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two runs batted in and three runs scored and notched the win in relief, pitching the final 3-2/3 innings.

Nate Kauffman (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) collected three hits in five at-bats, including a double and a triple, and drove in a pair of runs.  Derek Gearhart (West Middlesex, PA/West Middlesex) went 3-for-3 in his first college game with a double and three RBI.

The Wolverines out-hit Case Western 16 to 13.

In the nightcap, Ron Jones (Butler, PA/Knoch) hurled a complete-game three-hitter, but the Wolverines fell, 2-1.
