GCC belts three homers, bumps win streak to nine

GROVE CITY, PA, May 3, 2001--Senior J.G. Louden (Morgantown, WV/University) went 3-for-5 with two home runs and a double as the Wolverines extended their winning streak to nine games with an 8-5 victory over visiting Westminster College Thursday afternoon.  Grove City improved to 18-8 overall, while Westminster fell to 17-11-1

Louden, who upped his homer total to five on the season, scored three runs and drove in three for the Wolverines, who built a 6-1 lead after five innings and never looked back.

Senior Nate Kauffman (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-Millan) added another homer, raising his school-record total to 11 and the team's record mark to 28.  Kauffman also doubled, finishing with two RBI and two runs scored.  Junior Drew Hoagland (Butler, PA/Knoch) and sophomore Steve Navarro (Gilbertsville, PA/The Hill School) collected two hits apiece, including a double each.  Seniors Adam Booth (Hartville, OH/Lake) and Jeff Conaway (Freeport, PA/Freeport) also rapped doubles as the Wolverines collected 13 hits in the game.

Senior Brian Kaufold (Butler, PA/Butler) notched the victory (3-1), allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits in 5-2/3 innings.   Kaufold struck out four and walked two.  Freshman Greg Grupp (Harmony, PA/Slippery Rock) hurled the final 3-1/3 innings, yielding two earned runs on three hits, while fanning one and walking three.
