BRADFORD, PA, May 4, 2001--Pitt-Bradford broke a scoreless tie with six runs in the fifth inning and snapped Grove City's (18-9) nine-game winning streak with a 13-4 victory Friday in the clash of conference champions.

The Panthers, winners of the 2001 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference title, held the Presidents' Athletic Conference champs to nine hits and dealt the Wolverines their most lopsided defeat since the second game of the season at Maryville (TN) on March 9th (11-2).  Four of Grove City's nine losses this spring have been decided by one run and another by two runs.

Seniors Adam Myers (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Lake), J.G. Louden (Morgantown, WV/University) and Adam Booth (Hartville, OH/Lake) each collected two hits each.  Booth tripled and scored two runs, while Myers drove in two and scored one.  Senior Mike Kashurba (Latrobe, PA/Greater Latrobe) was credited with a hit, an RBI and a run scored.  Senior Nate Kauffman (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan), who ranks among the national leaders in home runs (11), had a single in four at-bats.   Sophomore Steve Navarro (Gilbertsville, PA/The Hill School) also had a hit.

Junior Justin Magee (Grove City, PA/Grove City) took the loss (3-3), allowing six earned runs on 11 hits in 4-1/3 innings.  Magee struck out five and walked one.

The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday in Grove City beginning with a junior varsity game at 1:00 p.m.
