Westminster humbles Grove City

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Grove City College baseball team (7-9, 5-6 PAC) fell out of contention for home-field advantage in next week's Presidents' Athletic Conference championship tournament by dropping both ends of a doubleheader at Westminster Monday afternoon.

The Titans (20-7, 10-5) picked up a 7-1 victory in the opener, then rolled to a 10-0 victory in the nightcap.

Grove City managed just five total hits on the afternoon. A run-scoring single from sophomore first baseman Joel Diller (Hartville, Ohio/Marlington) scored sophomore outfielder Michael McMillen (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) in the top of the sixth in the opener.

In the nightcap, Westminster hurler Jason Mumford faced just 22 Wolverine batters, one above the minimum. Sophomore Mike Gundy (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Christian) took the loss in the opener, allowing seven earned runs in six innings.

Junior Matt Kearney (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) allowed six earned runs in six innings in game two.

Grove City will host La Roche Tuesday in a doubleheader.
