Westminster downs Grove City

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College baseball team dropped a 13-4 decision to visiting Westminster Friday afternoon in both teams' Presidents' Athletic Conference opener at College Field.

Westminster jumped out to a 6-0 in the second inning before the Wolverines (2-8, 0-1 PAC) cut the lead in half. Junior center fielder Jerry Ott (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) cracked a two-run homer in the bottom of the third that cut the lead to 6-2. In the fourth, senior Jonathan Mycyk (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) walked and scored on a double by senior Michael McMillen (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny).

However, the Titans scored three in the top of the sixth and added four more in the seventh. Senior starting pitcher Luke Lester (Dover, Ohio/Dover) took the loss for Grove City, allowing seven earned runs in six innings. Sophomore Dan Aloisio (Chicago, Ill./Wheaton Academy) pitched three innings of relief.

McMillen doubled twice and also singled in three at-bats. Junior Greg Hrebinko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) also doubled for Grove City.

Brenton Gilmore earned the win for Westminster, pitching seven innings. Grove City will visit Westminster Saturday for a PAC doubleheader at 1 p.m.
