Titans take two from Grove City

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Host Westminster swept Grove City in a Presidents' Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader Tuesday afternoon, earning a 5-0 win in the opener before securing a 3-0 win in the nightcap.

Grove City (2-10, 0-3 PAC) managed just five total hits in the doubleheader. In Game One, junior center fielder Jerry Ott (Bridgeville, Pa./South Fayette) singled and stole second while freshman second baseman Michael Busin (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) singled and walked.

Junior pitcher Ryan Carr (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) took the loss in the opener, allowing five runs in a complete-game effort. He struck out four while issuing only one walk.

Ott doubled and walked in the nightcap while junior shortstop Mike Ritter (Moon Township, Pa./Moon) also doubled. Busin singled and walked. Junior right-hander Erik Arnesen (Princeton, N.J./Timothy Christian) allowed three runs and just five hits in six innings, but took the loss. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Grove City will visit Washington and Jefferson Friday afternoon for a single 9-inning PAC game.
