GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College baseball team fell to 10-10 overall and 2-6 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Friday afternoon with a 14-10 loss to visiting Westminster at College Field.

Grove City trailed 7-0 entering the bottom of the sixth but sent 12 batters to the plate as part of a six-run outburst. Junior right fielder Pat Messner (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) belted a two-run double in the inning while sophomore third baseman Cody Koontz (Moundsville, W. Va./John Marshall) roped a two-run single. Three Westminster errors in the inning also helped fuel the rally.

However, Westminster (10-13, 4-9) scored twice in the seventh and added five more runs in the eighth to seal the win.

Junior center fielder Brian Moran (Columbia, Md./Chapelgate) collected three hits, including a double, to help lead Grove City's 12-hit attack. Moran also scored twice and stole three bases. Koontz, sophomore shortstop Ben Wilson (Mechanicsville, Va./Lee-Davis) and junior catcher Ray Mertz (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) all singled twice.

Junior Chris Bowser (Stow, Ohio/Stow) took the pitching loss for Grove City after allowing seven runs in four-plus innings. Senior Eric Hull (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls) pitched 3 1/3 innings of relief while senior Neil Hoagland (Saxonburg, Pa./Knoch) and sophomore Matt Tindall (Copley, Ohio/Copley) also pitched in relief.
