Southpaw Mike Suchan (Independence, OH/Independence) took the first-game loss despite striking out eight and allowing just three earned runs in seven complete innings of work. Mike Kashurba (Latrobe, PA/Latrobe) went 3-for-4 at the plate and Paul Como (Grove City, PA/Grove City) cracked his first collegiate home run. The Wolverines rallied from a 5-1 third-inning deficit with three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the seventh.
In the nightcap, Brian Kaufold (Butler, PA/Butler) went the distance, fanning nine and
surrendering just six hits and one earned run in his second start of the year. Nate
Kauffman (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) and Eric Kephart (Osceola Mills,
PA/Philipsburg-Osceola Mills) each had a pair of hits.
The Wolverines dropped to 6-4 overall, 3-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while
W&J improved to 5-11, 4-2 in the PAC.
