BETHANY, W. Va. -- The Grove City College baseball team dropped to 9-7 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Friday afternoon with a 7-6 setback at Bethany in conference action at Bethany Park.

Bethany (20-15, 6-10 PAC) took the lead with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh against senior pitcher Mike Herringshaw (Chardon, Ohio/Notre Dame Cathedral Latin). Grove City had runners on base in each of its final two at bats but had runners doubled off in both innings.

In the first, junior catcher Marcus Magister (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton) lofted a sacrifice fly and junior shortstop Andrew Patterson (Akron, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) followed with a run-scoring single.

Magister's RBI single in the second inning pushed the lead to 4-0. Senior first baseman Tyler Thompson (Lee, Maine/Lee Academy) roped a run-scoring single in the third to drive in the fifth run of the game.

Magister went 3 for 4 with three runs batted in while Patterson and junior center fielder Dan Quirk (Schuylerville, N.Y./Schuylerville) both singled twice. Junior second baseman Scott Moran (Columbia, Md./Chapelgate Christian) scored three runs.
