April 8, 1999--The Wolverines improved to 12-6 on the season Thursday with a sweep over visiting Hiram in a non-conference doubleheader.

Nate Kauffman (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) went 3-for-3 with a walk in the 5-4 victory.   Ron Jones tripled and singled in four at-bats and drove in a pair of runs.   Brian Kaufold (Butler, PA/Butler) struck out three over five innings to record the win (2-1), while J.G. Louden (Morgantown, WV/University) picked up the save (1), punching out two in the final two frames.

Jones went 2-for-4 in the nightcap with a two-run double, and notched the save (2) in relief of Jeff Meyers (Spencerport, NY/Churchville-Chili) by striking out two in 2/3 of an inning.  Meyers got the win (3-0) after 6-1/3 innings of work.  Mike Kashurba (Latrobe, PA/Latrobe) collected two hits in four trips with a two-run homer (1), while Adam Booth (North Canton, OH/Uniontown Lake) turned in a 2-for-2 plate performance.

The Terriers fell to 9-12 overall.
