April 24, 1999--Jeff Conaway's (Freeport, PA/Freeport) one-out home run in the sixth inning sparked a four-run rally that helped the Wolverines defeat Washington & Jefferson College, 5-3, and stay alive in the double-elimination Presidents' Athletic Conference Tournament.

Conaway cracked a two-run homer (2) to tie the game 3-3, before Erie Kephart (Osceola Mills, PA/Philipsburg-Osceola) tripled home the go-ahead run and J.G. Louden (Morgantown, WV/University) walked with the base loaded for an insurance tally.  Mike Suchan (Independence, OH/Independence) notched the win (3-2), striking out four and allowing six hits over seven complete innings of work.  Drew Hoagland (Butler, PA/Knoch) contributed a pair of hits.

Louden took the loss (3-2) in the tournament opener after Waynesburg College broke a 3-3 tie with a five-run eighth that included a grand slam.  Mike Kashurba (Latrobe, PA/Latrobe), Ron Jones (Butler, PA/Knoch), Nate Kauffman (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) and Derek Gearhart (West Middlesex, PA/West Middlesex) each had two hits.

Both games were played at Washington & Jefferson.

The tournament continues Monday when Grove City hosts Thiel College at 1:00 p.m.
