Grove City rolls to third win of the year
GROVE CITY, PA, November 28, 2000--The Wolverines picked up their third decisive victory in four games Tuesday, defeating visiting Penn State Behrend, 74-59. Grove City, who posted its third win in its 12th game one year ago, improved to 3-1, while Behrend fell to 1-3.
Junior forward Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) fired in 19 points, hitting 9 of 10 from the free-throw line, and recorded a game-high nine rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots. Junior guard Chris Kreider (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) paced the Wolverines in scoring for the third game in row, finishing with 21 points and four assists. Freshman guard Jim Fetzner (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) contributed 10 points and four assists, while senior forward Shane Meling (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) chipped in with a game-high five dishes.
Ashley Orris led the Lions with 22 points on 8-for-10 shooting, including 4-for-5 marksmanship from three-point range.
The Wolverines' three victories have come by winning
margins of 19, 22 and 15 points. They last opened a season 3-1 in 1997-98.
