Wolverines lose opener at Hope tourney

HOLLAND, MI, December 28, 2000--Grove City dropped to 6-3 on the season Thursday, falling to North Central (IL), 78-56, in the opening round of the Russ DeVette Holiday Classic at Hope College in Holland, MI.

The Wolverines will tip-off in Friday's consolation game against Concordia (WI), who lost to Hope, 107-62.

Junior Chris Kreider (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) scored a team-high 14 points for the Wolverines, who hit just 7 of 25 (28.0%) shots in the first half and 20 of 52 (38.5%) in the game.  Sophomore Jeb Schreiber (Oil City, PA/Oil City) added nine points, going 3-for-3 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the line.   Junior Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) grabbed a team-best six boards.

Mike Kulbeda led four Cardinals in double figures with 15 points. North Central improved to 6-4 overall.
