Grove City drops third in a row at Moravian Classic

BETHLEHEM, PA, January 5, 2001--The Grove City Wolverines suffered their third straight defeat Friday night, losing to the Muhlenberg Mules, 78-64, in the opening round of the 23rd annual Greyhound Nike Classic at Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA.

Grove City (6-5) falls into Saturday's consolation game at 1:00 p.m. against the loser of Moravian-Centenary (NJ).  Muhlenberg (4-5) advances to the championship tilt at 3:00 p.m.

The Wolverines owned leads of 10-8 and 16-15, but trailed at halftime, 32-26, and never got closer.

Junior Chris Kreider (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) scored a team-high 22 points for the Wolverines, who shot 38% (22-58) from the floor and committed 20 turnovers.  Freshman Jim Fetzner (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) tossed in 16 points on 5-for-8 shooting, including a 3-for-5 clip from three-point range.  Junior Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) hit on 5 of 7 shots from the field, finishing with 12 points and a team-best 10 boards.  Grove City out-rebounded Muhlenberg, 41-32.

Mark Lesko led three Mules in double figures with 28 points on 11-for-15 shooting.  Michael Rossmell and Michael Barletta added 19 and 16 points, respectively.
