WAYNESBURG, PA, February 14, 2001--Grove City dropped a heart-breaker on Valentine's Day as Waynesburg's Bret McKinney hit a three-pointer from the left wing with 10 seconds left to lift the host Yellow Jackets to a 74-73 victory.

The Wolverines dropped to 13-10 overall and 4-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while Waynesburg improved to 13-11 overall, 3-4 in the PAC.

Grove City led 34-25 at halftime and upped its lead to 37-25 out of the break, but Waynesburg rallied with a 17-7 run to take a 42-41 lead with 14 minutes left to play.  The Yellow Jackets led by as many as eight, 64-56, with under seven minutes remaining and held the lead until the 1:35 mark when senior Shane Meling (Slippery Rock, PA/Slippery Rock) stole the ball and raced in alone for a lay-up, putting the Wolverines ahead, 72-71.  Grove City added a free throw to make it 73-71, but McKinney struck with the game-winner to even the season series at a game apiece.  The Wolverines had a chance to win the game in the final seconds, but sophomore Andy Vlajkovich (Canfield, OH/Canfield) had a 3-pointer rim out and a couple of tip-in tries underneath spun out.

Vlajkovich led four Wolverines in double figures with 15 points.  Freshman Jim Fetzner (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) finished with 14, while Meling and junior Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) added 11 each.  Roberts added a game-high 15 boards to notch his eighth double-double of the season.
