The Wolverines led 24-20 at halftime and went ahead by as many as 11 points, 31-20, before Hilbert rallied to take its first lead of the game, 34-33 with 12:30 remaining.  The Hawks opened up an eight-point cushion, 51-43, but Grove City recovered with an 8-0 run to tie the score, 51-51, at the 3:00 mark.  Freshman Nate Maurer (Mount Lebanon, PA/The Linsly School) keyed the spurt by hitting 4 of 4 from the free-throw line.

Trailing 55-51 with 19 seconds left, sophomore Jim Fetzner (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) was fouled on a three-point attempt and proceeded to make two of three from the stripe to cut the deficit to two, but Hilbert nailed a pair of freebies with 16 seconds left and held on to post its second victory of the season.

Sophomore Phil Bushre (Swartz Creek, MI/Swartz Creek) led three Wolverines in double figures with a career-high 17 points on 7-for-9 shooting.  Fetzner tossed in 11 points, including a trio of threes, while senior Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) also contributed 11 points and added a team-high nine rebounds.  Sophomore Tanner Prosser (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood) chipped in with seven points and a team-best five assists.
