Wolverines post 30-point win over Medaille

GROVE CITY, PA, January 9, 2002--Sophomore Jim Fetzner (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) fired in a career-high 21 points, including four three-pointers as Grove City improved to 10-4 with a 95-65 win over visiting Medaille (NY).

The victory is the 50th in the career of fourth-year head coach Steve Lamie (50-38).

Fetzner went 8-for-10 from the field and made four of his five attempts from behind the three-point line.

Grove City stormed to a 41-29 halftime lead behind 16-of-25 shooting from the floor. For the game, the Wolverines shot 37-of-63 (58. 7 percent).

As a team, the Wolverines distributed a season-high 27 assists as sophomore Ian Dean (Damascus, MD/Damascus) gave out six while senior Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) dished out four assists while also collecting 16 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks.

Grove City outrebounded Medaille (2-11), 50-23.

Junior Andy Vlajkovich (Canfield, OH/Canfield) added 13 points, including three three-point goals.

With 7:44 left in the game, sophomore center Phil Bushre (Swartz Creek, MI/Swartz Creek) was taken to a local hospital after suffering a possible neck injury after a fall to the floor. Bushre was conscious and able to move his extremities when he was taken from the floor.

Josh Dean led Medaille with 15 points.
