Wolverines complete sweep over Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, PA, February 2, 2002--Sophomore Jim Fetzner (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) led four Wolverines in double figures with 20 points as Grove City completed a regular-season sweep over host Waynesburg by a 75-64 count Saturday night at the Rudy Marisa Field House.

The Wolverines improved to 15-6 overall, 3-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while the Yellow Jackets dropped to 12-7 overall, 1-4 in the PAC.

Fetzner drilled three three-pointers in the game, the last coming in the final moments of the first half to give the Wolverines a 32-30 lead at intermission.  Grove City never looked back, jumping out to a 45-34 lead and holding at least an eight-point cushion the rest of the way.

Junior Andy Vlajkovich (Canfield, OH/Canfield) tossed in 13 points, freshman Nate Maurer (Mount Lebanon, PA/The Linsly School) tallied 12 and freshman Ryan Eller (Erie, PA/Iroquois) came off the bench to score 10.  Senior Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) was credited with a game-high 10 rebounds and three blocked shots as the Wolverines posted a decisive 44-29 rebounding edge.  Sophomore Ian Dean (Damascus, MD/Damascus) had five assists, while sophomore Tanner Prosser (Pittsburgh, PA/Brentwood) chipped in eight boards and four assists.

Ray Robinson rifled in a game-high 28 points to lead Waynesburg, who was held to 31 percent shooting in the game (20-64).  

Grove City shot 48 percent from the floor (24-50) and knocked down 23 of 30 free throws.
