Wolverines even PAC record at 2-2

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior forward Tanner Prosser (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) tossed in a game-high 18 points and pulled down a career-best 19 rebounds as the Grove City College men's basketball team recorded a 65-55 victory over Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Waynesburg Wednesday night at the Grove City College Arena.

The Wolverines (8-10, 2-2 PAC) held Waynesburg (6-11, 1-3 PAC) without a field goal over the final 4:40 in picking up their second straight win. Grove City led 56-54 before putting the game away with a 9-0 run down the stretch.

Junior guard J.D. Collar (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) started the run with a three-pointer while Prosser and junior forward Ryan Eller (Erie, Pa./Iroquois) added inside baskets. Point guard Mike Lukcic (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) also added a lay-up to cap the run. Like Prosser, Eller finished with 18 points while Collar added 10 points.

But it was Grove City's second-half defense that sparked the win. The Wolverines held Waynesburg to just 21 points in the final 20 minutes and limited Waynesburg to 9-for-27 (33 percent) shooting in the second half. The Wolverines also out-rebounded Waynesburg, 39-26.

Prosser and Eller each had a dozen points in the first half as the teams went to the locker room tied at 34. Waynesburg made six of 12 three-point attempts to stay close. The teams swapped the lead 14 times during the game.

Grove City committed just 11 turnovers for the game. Eller is now 31 for his last 41 (76 percent) from the floor.

The Wolverines visit PAC rival Washington and Jefferson Saturday at 3 p.m.
