Eller reaches 1,000 but Wolverines fall in OT

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Senior forward Ryan Eller (Erie, Pa./Iroquois) became the 21st 1,000-point scorer in Grove City College men's basketball history Saturday afternoon but the Wolverines fell to 11-9 overall and 4-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 110-102 overtime loss at PAC archrival Westminster in Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

Eller poured in a career-high 41 points on 17-of-21 shooting from the floor. He also drained six of seven foul shots in becoming the first Grove City player to score 40 points in a game since Dan Von Handorf scored 42 in a 106-103 overtime win over Thiel in 1995. Eller added seven assists.

Senior center Phil Bushre (Swartz Creek, Mich./Swartz Creek) fired in 27 points on 11-of-15 shooting and also grabbed 12 rebounds. Bushre distributed eight assists, tying a career-high.

The Wolverines forced overtime as senior guard J.D. Collar (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) sank an off-balance three-pointer with two seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 88-88. However, Westminster guard Craig Hannon scored 13 of his team-high 26 points in the overtime session.

Westminster (14-7, 4-2 PAC) jumped out to a 17-6 lead and eventually extended the lead to 28-15. After leading 45-36 at the half, the Titans pushed the lead to 65-51. Grove City took its first lead of the second half with a 12-0 run during the middle portion of the period. Bushre's lay-up at the 6:33 mark gave Grove City a 72-71 lead.

Dom Joseph added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Titans. Grove City will host Waynesburg Wednesday night in PAC action at 7:30.
