Albright downs Grove City
READING, Pa. – The Grove City College men's basketball team fell to 4-8 Friday night with a 95-68 loss to host Albright (8-3) in the semifinals of the TGIFriday's/Sheraton Tournament at Bollman Center.
Grove City will play Mary Washington (Va.) in the consolation game Saturday at 2 p.m.
Sophomore guard Joe Capotosta (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) led the Wolverines with 11 points, his second straight double-digit scoring effort. Senior forward Chuck Cotherman (Knox, Pa./Keystone) and sophomore guard Shawn Carr (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) each added nine points.
The first half featured eight ties before Albright pulled away to a 49-35 halftime lead. Grove City opened the second half with a 7-0 run in the first two minutes but Albright eventually broke the game open.
Greg Conroy led Albright with 19 points. It was the first meeting between the teams since 1992.
