Wolverines drop to 3-1 in PAC

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team dropped to 3-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon with a 73-53 home loss against Bethany (7-7, 3-1 PAC) in the Grove City College Arena.

Bethany took the lead for good in the first half with a 14-2 run and held a 44-28 lead at halftime. The Bison shot 10 of 20 (50 percent) behind the three-point line in the first half. For the game, the Bison drained 17 three-point goals on 38 attempts. Grove City, meanwhile, shot just 3 of 12 (25 percent) behind the arc.

Sophomore center Andy O'Keefe (Perry, Ohio/Perry) led Grove City with 12 points. Bethany senior guard Brody Jackson led all scorers with 28 points, including eight three-pointers. Jackson also had seven assists.

Bethany forward Ryan Besancon added 22 points and 11 rebounds, helping the Bison own a 38-35 edge on the glass. Senior guard Shawn Carr (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) grabbed a team-leading six rebounds for Grove City (9-5 overall).

Grove City shot 22 of 56 (39 percent) from the floor while Bethany finished 27 of 64 (42 percent). The Wolverines had just 11 turnovers and committed only seven fouls.

Senior guard Joe Capotosta (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) and junior guard Joe McCoy (Newark, Ohio/Newark) each had seven points for the Wolverines, who are now in a three-way tie atop the PAC with Bethany and Thomas More (4-2 PAC).

Grove City will visit Waynesburg Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in PAC action.
