Wolverines pull out 62-58 win at Thomas More

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Grove City College men's basketball team improved to 14-7 overall and 7-2 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 62-58 victory over PAC rival Thomas More Saturday afternoon at the Connor Convocation Center.

Senior guard Ryan Gerber (Baltic, Ohio/Garaway) drilled a pair of free throws with seven seconds left to clinch the win for Grove City. Moments earlier, Thomas More's Aaron Miller missed two foul shots that would have tied the game. Grove City made 15 of its 16 second-half foul shots.

Senior guard Shawn Carr (New Castle, Pa./Mohawk) led Grove City with 19 points, including four three-point goals. Sophomore center Andy O'Keefe (Perry, Ohio/Perry) added a dozen points for the Wolverines. Grove City trailed 25-15 in the first half but closed the period with a 12-2 run. Senior forward Bobby Turner (New Castle, Pa./Laurel) deposited a layup in the closing moments of the half to tie the game at 27. A Gerber steal and pass set up Turner's score.

Grove City led by as many as 10, 54-44, in the second half before Thomas More (9-13, 5-6 PAC) charged back.

Grove City shot 46 percent (19 of 41) from the field while limiting the Saints to a 34 percent (19 of 56) outing. Thomas More did own a 36-29 edge on the glass.

Mark Tinklenberg led Thomas More with 17 points while Brian Muse added 14.

Grove City will visit Bethany Wednesday night at 6 p.m. in PAC men's action.
