Penn State-Behrend 52, Grove City 49

BOXSCORE

December 1, 1998--
A box-out and a bucket separated the Wolverines from their third straight victory Tuesday night in Erie, PA.

Junior Dave Pifer (Sarver, PA/Freeport) nailed a three-pointer to cut Penn State-Behrend's lead to 50-49 with 26 seconds left in regulation, but the Lions countered at :24 with a put-back off a missed front end of a one-and-one to take a 52-49 lead.  The Wolverines misfired twice from outside the arc in the final seconds in an attempt to force OT.

Pifer led Grove City with 11 points, including three treys.  Senior Michael Cratsley (Temecula, CA/Temecula) finished with 10 points.  Junior Lee Huffman (Gibsonia, PA/Hampton) grabbed a team-high nine boards as the Wolverines out-rebounded Behrend, 35-24.

The Lions, who improved to 3-1, led at halftime, 27-20.

Grove City, now 2-2 overall, opens its home slate Saturday afternoon against Hilbert at 2:00 p.m.
