Thiel Rallies to Beat GCC, 73-67

GREENVILLE, PA, February 9, 2000--Dave Pifer (Sarver, PA/Freeport) canned four of five three-pointers on his way to a game-high 18 points, but Thiel rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to beat visiting Grove City, 73-67, Wednesday night.

The Wolverines fell to 3-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, 8-14 overall.  The Tomcats, meanwhile, improved their first-place PAC mark to 4-1 and jumped to 13-8 overall.

Tanner Prosser (Brentwood, PA/Brentwood) tallied 17 points for GCC on 6-for-8 shooting and added nine rebounds.  Pat Roberts (Home, PA/Marion Center) grabbed seven boards and Chris Kreider (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) handed out six assists.

A.H. Davis paced four Tomcats in double figures with 18 points.

Grove City led by as many as 10 points in the first half and took a 34-25 advantage into intermission.  Thiel took its first lead of the second half with 11:30 showing and led for the final seven minutes of regulation.

The Wolverines host Washington & Jefferson Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
