R. Jack Behringer Field

R. Jack Behringer Field has served as the home of Grove City College baseball since it was reinstituted as a varsity sport in 1959.

Dedicated in 2009 for the long-time athletic director and coach, the facility has received renovations in recent years, including the addition of covered dugouts and a new full-featured scoreboard.

Comprised completely of natural surfaces, the field possesses an asymmetrical layout, measuring 320 down the left-field line, 400 to straight-away center field, and 300 down the right-field line.

During his 40 years as athletic director, Behringer led Grove City College athletics through a period of impressive and substantial growth. His leadership saw the College enter the newly-created NCAA Division III and become a regional standard-bearer in the establishment of women's intercollegiate athletics.

Grove City added 12 varsity sports- including nine for women- during Behringer's career. Along with helping to foster the creation of the Women's Keystone Conference, he also engineered Grove City's entrance into the Presidents' Athletic Conference in 1984.

In addition to reinstating baseball is a varsity sport and serving as the team's head coach from 1959-1988, he also served as head coach of football (1956-1972), men's basketball (1956-57) and men's golf (1989-1996). His 236 wins as head baseball coach stood as the program record until 2011.
