"Student View"

Through the Eyes of a Grove City College Student

November 22 - December 13

Silent Night

The Candlelight Service, which occurred this past Sunday evening, was
not-to-be-missed. I have gone every year since I started at Grove City, and it is a highlight of the Christmas season. The liturgy soaked with tradition is a beautiful reminder of our Savior's birth.

Christmas Parties Galore!
Almost everyone will tell you that one of the best parts about GCC is the relationships that students can build with faculty and staff at the college. Many serve as advisors to the variety of organizations and groups on campus, and even have students over their houses for some Christmas goodness!

Student Life and Learning has several Santa suits to "rent" during this season. Many organizations take advantage of this fantastic service to make their Christmas parties even more festive!

De-Stress Fair
Seriously, one of the best events on campus! The GCC Counseling Center puts on a De-Stress Fair close to finals. This is the second semester they've had it and it is wonderful! Knitting, Playdough, Legos, Lincoln Logs, Santa Hats, Peppermint Hot Chocolate, Manicures, Homemade Stress Balls. Oh yes... it was wonderful (especially as I type this with pretty nails!)

Tis the Season!

You know it's Christmas at GCC when all the doors (at least the ones in the women's residence halls) are covered in stockings, wreaths, and Christmas lights. The smell of Christmas cookies permeates the campus, and there is a wealth of things to do!

Cookie Decorating Party
It seems almost everywhere you look, someone is having a party decorating Christmas cookies! What a wonderfully scrumptious treat with finals just around the corner!

Ten Thousand Villages
Each year, the women of Crown and Scepter, the sophomore women's service honorary, bring this magnificent fundraiser to campus. A portion of the proceeds fund their activities on campus and it provides a wonderfully convenient place to shop for unique Christmas presents.

December SGA Coffeehouse
Free hot chocolate and cookies. Beautiful music. Friends. A nice, noisy place to do some studying or work. The SGA coffeehouses play to a packed house and are some of the nicest nights on campus.

The Crimson
The sophomores on Student Government put on this annual dance during the holiday season. This year, the theme was "It's a Wonderful Life." They planned a fun and modern portion in MAP Dining Hall and an alternative dance with ballroom and swing dancing in Old Map.

GCC Journal of Law and Public Policy
This just in - the GCC Journal of Law and Public Policy just came out with its second edition and features student, faculty and alumni pieces. If you'd like a copy of the Journal, request one at LawJournal@gcc.edu.

IM Sports
With only a few days left in the semester, just about every IM Sport is in playoffs. It makes such a nice break from studying!

I'm so happy you stopped by to take a look at the campus through a student's eyes. It's been a pleasure putting this page together for you. I am so looking forward to this coming semester and all the fun it will bring!

Sincerely,

Brittany Hayward

I hope you’ve enjoyed your peek at “Student View” and I invite you to stop back next week for more of the Grove City experience through the eyes of a student!
