Four Wolverines earn PAC weekly honors

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College senior golfer Esther Durling (Perry, Mich./Perry), junior tennis player Jon Graber (Atglen, Pa./Octorara), junior sprinter/hurdler Eliza Lowe (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) and sophomore jumper Katie Hess (Medina, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) have been named Presidents' Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for all events contested from April 13-19, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Durling was named the conference's Women's Golfer of the Week for the second week in a row and the fourth time during the 2014-15 academic year after earning medalist honors at Saturday's Thiel Invitational to lead Grove City to a second-place finish in the team standings. Durling's 82 was eight strokes better than the closest opponent.

The three-time PAC Women's Golfer of the Year, Durling leads Grove City into the 2015 PAC Spring Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon.

Graber was named Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the first time of his career after going 5-0 in conference play during the week and 6-3 overall. After earning a super-tiebreaker victory at fourth singles against Allegheny on Monday, Graber rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles against Thiel before earning wins at both fourth singles and second doubles against Washington and Jefferson and Waynesburg.

Graber and the Grove City College men's tennis team will look to defend their conference title at the 2015 PAC Championships this Friday and Saturday at the Pennbriar Club in Erie.

Lowe earned PAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week honors for the first time this season and the third time in her career after contributing to three Grove City wins at the PAC North Quad at Geneva on Thursday. Lowe broke her own meet record with a time of 1:04.85 in the 400 hurdles and completed the sweep with a victorious time of 15.89 in the 100 hurdles. Lowe helped Grove City win the 4x100 relay in 50.55 seconds.

The conference honored Hess as Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the first time this season and the fourth time of her career after a strong showing at the North Quad Meet at Geneva. Hess cleared 4 feet, 11 inches to win the high jump and also added a second-place finish in the triple jump with a best leap of 31 feet, 6 inches.

Lowe, Hess and the rest of the Grove City College women's track and field team will look to win their second-straight PAC outdoor title this Friday and Saturday when the Wolverines host the 2015 PAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Robert E. Thorn Field.
