Marmelstein named PAC Player of the Week

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Grove City College senior guard Mitch Marmelstein (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's) has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played from November 17-23, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

Marmelstein led the Wolverines to a 2-0 record on the week, averaging 18.5 points and four assists on 65.2 percent shooting. He scored a game-high 21 points and added a pair of steals in the Wolverines' 80-73 home win over Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday night before leading the team with 16 points and six assists in an 80-73 victory at Mount Aloysius on Saturday.

Through three games, Marmelstein is averaging a team-best 19.3 points per game on 56.4 percent shooting and ranks second on the team with 11 assists. He currently ranks second in the conference in scoring and fourth in assists.

In Grove City's season-opening win over Franciscan, Marmelstein became the 26th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point mark for his career. He currently sits in 24th on the all-time scoring list with 1,040 career points.

Grove City travels to Marmelstein's home state of California this week for a pair of games in the David Wells Classic in Claremont. The Wolverines will face host Pomona-Pitzer on Friday at 6 p.m. local time before taking on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at 5 p.m. local time.
