Wolverines top Bethany in PAC clash

BETHANY, W. Va. -- The Grove City College men's swimming and diving team closed 2008 Wednesday night with a 69-46 victory at Bethany in a Presidents' Athletic Conference dual meet. Grove City is now 7-1 overall and 1-0 in the PAC.

Freshman Josh Kim (Frederick, Md./New Life Christian) paced Grove City with a pair of wins. Kim won the 100 butterfly in 56.36 seconds and also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.48.

Four other Wolverines earned wins Wednesday. Freshman Nick Hamilton (Crescent, Pa./Moon) won the 1650 in 18:28.15 while sophomore Dan Wells (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) took first in the 50 free (24.14). Freshman Ben Bowser (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) won the 100 back in 56.66 seconds.

Junior Kyle Grubbs (Stow, Ohio/Stow-Munroe Falls) won 1-meter diving with 204.80 points.

Grove City opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay as Bowser, freshman Clay Beckner (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg), freshman Seth Shaheen (Annville, Pa./Pa. Cyber Charter) and senior Ben Leach (Damascus, Md./Damascus) recorded a victorious time of 1:45.84.

The Wolverines have now won seven straight. Grove City returns to action Saturday, January 17 at Washington & Jefferson.
