Denison clips Grove City

GRANVILLE, Ohio -- National powerhouse Denison earned a 158-124 victory over visiting Grove City Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's swimming and diving action at Gregory Pool.

Senior diver Kyle Grubbs (Stow, Ohio/Stow) paced Grove City (7-2) by winning 1-meter diving. Grubbs posted a victorious score of 297.82 points.

Sophomore Josh Kim (Frederick, Md./New Life Christian) placed second in the 1000 with a time of 10 minutes, 31.12 seconds. Freshman Alex Mathews (York, Pa./Spring Grove) earned third in the 1000 in 10:32.02.

Sophomore Kirk Gagliardo (Wadsworth, Ill./Warren Township) placed third in the 50 (22.26) while classmate Clay Beckner (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) captured third in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.57).

Freshman Eric Fairchild (Corry, Pa./Corry) took third in the 200 backstroke (2:01.27) and senior Lincoln Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) finished third in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.00). Kim added a third-place finish in the 500 with a 5:02.03 clocking.

Grove City will host Penn State Behrend and Pitt-Bradford Friday night in a non-conference double-dual at 6 p.m.
