Grove City competes at Pitt

PITTSBURGH – The Grove City College men’s swimming and diving squad competed in the University of Pittsburgh Quad Saturday at Trees Pool. The Wolverines dropped a 174-81 decision to Division II Clarion and the Wolverines also fell to Carnegie Mellon, 231-50, and host Pitt, 221-47.

Grove City’s 200 free relay squad of freshman Jordan Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River), senior Ian Smyth (Troy, Pa./Troy), junior C.P. Dehli (Moneta, Va./Staunton River) and senior Eric Fairchild (Corry, Pa./Corry) concluded the meet by taking fourth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1 minute, 28.59 seconds.

Fairchild also finished fourth in the 200 backstroke with a 2:00.73 clocking. He added a fifth-place finish in the 50 free (21.75).

Junior Noah Walker (Lexington, Ky./Homeschooled) placed seventh in the 200 individual medley (2:03.96) and eighth in the 100 butterfly (55.46). Senior Adam Walker (Lexington, Ky./Homeschooled) placed eighth in the 200 breaststroke (2:22.25).

Junior Louis Gabriele (Mahwah, N.J./Don Bosco) took eighth in the 200 butterfly in 2:06.17.

Grove City returns to action February 13-16 when it hosts the James E. Longnecker Invitational in conjunction with the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championships.
