Grove City drops opener

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team opened the 2015 season Tuesday night by dropping a 25-15, 25-17, 25-16 decision to Carnegie Mellon in a neutral site match at Westminster College's Memorial Field House.

Freshman Laura Buchanan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) led Grove City (0-1) with eight kills while senior Natalija Galens (Covert, Mich./Grace Christian) and sophomore Jamie Robatisin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) both tallied four kills.

Senior setter Amy Trageser (Marriottsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) distributed 16 assists. Defensively, junior Jessica Althausen (Asheville, N.C./Asheville Christian) paced Grove City with 14 digs.

Grove City returns to action Friday with a pair of matches in Mount Union's Purple Raider Classic in Alliance, Ohio. The Wolverines will play Ohio Wesleyan at 2 p.m. before meeting host Mount Union at 4 p.m.
