Two sweeps for Wolverines

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team secured a pair of wins Thursday night in a home tri-match at the Grove City College Arena. Grove City opened the day with a 25-18, 25-21, 25-16 victory over Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Waynesburg. Grove City then swept Penn State Altoona in non-conference action, 25-21, 25-13, 25-20.

Sophomore Jamie Robatisin (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) paced Grove City (11-14, 8-5 PAC) in the opener by registering 13 kills. Sophomore Hannah Foster (Sugarcreek, Ohio/Garaway) posted nine kills while freshman Laura Buchanan (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and senior Natalija Galens (Covert, Mich./Grace Christian) each contributed eight kills.

Senior setter Amy Trageser (Marriottsville, Md./Chapelgate Christian) recorded 23 assists and freshman Allie Schmid (Beaver, Pa./Beaver) posted 19 assists.

Defensively, sophomore libero Beka Russell (North Canton, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) tallied 27 digs and Galens had 15 digs. Senior Libbie Casey (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) led Grove City with four blocks and Buchanan tallied three blocks.

Robatisin also had 13 kills in the win over Penn State Altoona. Buchanan added nine kills and sophomore Ariella Carter (Avon, Ohio/Hearts For Jesus Christ) chalked up seven kills. Trageser had 24 assists.

Carter led Grove City with five blocks while Casey and Robatisin each tallied three blocks. Galens and Russell both had 14 digs.

Grove City will visit Bethany for a tri-match Saturday at 11 a.m. The Wolverines face conference foe Bethany at 11 a.m. before stepping out of conference play to face Franciscan at 1 p.m.
