Wolverines remain 3rd after 2nd night of Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team is currently in third place after the second night of competition in the 2007 Grove City Invitational/Presidents' Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the Grove City College Pool. Grove City has accumulated 297.5 team points through the end of Friday night's competition. Westminster leads with 587 points while Washington & Jefferson is second with 483.5 points.

Junior Ellen Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) led Grove City's effort Friday night by placing second in the 200 free with a time of 1 minute, 58.40 seconds. Sophomore Whitney Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) placed fifth in the 400 individual medley (5:01.74) while freshman Jane Wilson (Newberg, Ore./Veritas School) placed sixth in the 100 fly (1:02.75).

Baur, Keefer, freshman Rachel Johnson (Phoenix, Ariz./Shadow Mountain) and sophomore Whitney Fairchild (Corry, Pa./Corry) closed Friday's action by finishing third in the 800 free relay with a time of 8:22.73.

Wilson, sophomore Alyse Brannon (Purcellville, Va./Homeschooled), sophomore Kiersten Bower (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) and senior Virginia Larsen (Federal Way, Wash./Tacoma Baptist) opened the session by taking fourth in the 200 medley relay with a mark of 1:56.31.

Saturday's preliminaries will begin at 10 a.m. The finals begin at 5:30 p.m.
