Wolverines compete at IUP

INDIANA, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's track and field team competed at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Freshman distance runner Julia Seward (Elizabethton, Tenn./Science Hill) led the Wolverines by winning the 5000 in an ECAC-qualifying time of 18 minutes, 59.71 seconds. Sophomore Mary Majchrowicz (Sunnyvale, Calif./The King's Academy) took third in the 400 (1:00.8) and sixth in the 200 dash (27.60) for Grove City while freshman Kristen Carter (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham) took sixth in the 1500 (4:51.22). Carter also placed seventh in the 800 (2:26.40).

Also for Grove City, freshman Sarah Hirsh (Hanover, Pa./South Western) finished sixth in the steeplechase (13:32.30), once place ahead of freshman Elizabeth Clymer (Concord, N.H./Concord). Clymer posted a time of 13:40.40.

In the field, junior Sarah Bray (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) took seventh in the javelin with a throw of 107 feet, 9 inches.

Grove City will look to capture its eighth straight Presidents' Athletic Conference title Saturday at the PAC Championships, hosted by Westminster College.
