Grove City splits two in Erie

ERIE, Pa. -- The Grove City College volleyball team split a pair of matches at Penn State Behrend's Junker Center Saturday afternoon. Grove City (5-14) lost to Frostburg State in four games, 30-20, 30-22, 22-30, 30-22 before rallying for a five-game win over host Behrend. Grove City dropped the first two games 17-30 and 20-30 but bounced back to sweep the final three, 30-22, 30-26 and 15-12.

Freshman Kelly Tinney (Ashtabula, Ohio/Sts. John and Paul) collected 11 kills against Behrend while senior Lisa Bodi (Springville, N.Y./Springville-Griffith Institute) added 10 kills. Senior Renee Allen (Verona, Pa./Penn Hills) collected 16 digs while junior Kate DiMarco (Slate Hill, N.Y./Minisink Valley) added 14 digs in the win.

Sophomore setter Carly Denniston (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) distributed 32 assists and served three aces. Freshman Carlie Roberts (Union City, Pa./Union City) had seven blocks and three aces.

Bodi led Grove City with 13 kills against Frostburg State while Tinney tallied 10 kills. Denniston had 35 assists while DiMarco was credited with 18 digs. Roberts posted five blocks.

Grove City will host Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Bethany Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
